September saw JL Goor host two workshops for the Medical Sector

Date: 15 September 2015

Two Workshops were held in September '15, for plastics processors, designers and specifiers supplying the medical sector in Ireland.  There were also representatives from medical device companies and Universities.  It was a great opportunity to share knowledge and network with others involved in the medical sector.

The two workshops were held in Dublin and Galway and were hosted by JL Goor, with the technical papers being led by RTP Company.

There was a great attendance with over 60 delegates learning all about the latest developments for the use of polymers in the medical sector.

Josh Blackmore (Global Market Manager - Healthcare) for RTP, and several of his colleagues gave five very well received papers.

Josh had two papers - one covering how RTP go about producing medical resin compounds, how to reduce the risk of mistakes and chose the right resin for the specific needs of the project.  The other was on controlling friction or "sticktion" for Single Use Medical Devices.

Dr . Joel Bell (International Technology Manager) gave a talk on the very topical subject of Hospital Cleaner Resistant Thermoplastics and a new alloy designed by RTP specifically to deal with this problem.

Dean Fosbury ( Colour Manager Europe) gave a paper explaining colour formulation for medical and the latest work on pre-approved biocompatible colours, laser marking and laser welding.
